I don't understand why anyone would need a GUI either, but some people
just do... so all kidding aside, what would a person who likes GUI's
use?
Data Studio?

Sorry no. Real men use cat. ;-)

Toad isn't that bad, but they don't support IDS.

Informix has its own DBACCESS that seems to work pretty well. It depends on what you want to do...

emacs.

Some generic tools work with Informix.
Besides those, you can consider for example:

.. ServerStudio ( http://www.serverstudio.com )
.. IBM Data Studio ( http://www-306.ibm.com/software/data/studio/ )

But you should specify exactly what you need to do.
If you're trying to look for Oracle equivalents you may hit a common error:
forgetting that databases are really different...
You probably don't need some of the "features" you find in some of the usual
tools for Oracle.

Regards.
