| I was putting my IUA presentation on our website when I discovered a few others that should have been posted a while ago, including one from last year. If you go to http://www.rationalcommerce.com/papers.htm you will find the following five new presentations: 1. Choosing the Optimal Page Size; this includes some handy graphs which make it easy to "eyeball" when your row size is a poor fit to your chosen page size 2. The Ingres Janitors Project; my call-to-arms presented at the Engineering Summit in April. Most of the issues flagged have been resolved or at least moved on 3. Ingres Applications with PHP; an account of adding a public-facing Internet application to an extremely mature application 4. Ingres 2006 New Features; presented at IUA 2007 last summer The fifth presentation is Emma McGrattan's write-up on the development sprint run the weekend before the IUA conference this year. I've temporarily posted it here as a "guest presentation" because it is of wider importance and interest than the IUA conference and it won't be posted on the IUA website for a few weeks yet. I also updated the zip file containing the Practical Applications of Table Partitioning presentation to include a PDF with a syntax diagram of the MODIFY...TO RECONSTRUCT WITH PARTITION statement. Figuring out valid syntax from the pseudo-BNF spec in the manual is probably the biggest obstacle to getting started table partitioning! Roy -- UK Ingres User Association Conference 2009 will be held on Tuesday June 9, 2009 Go to http://www.iua.org.uk/join to get on the mailing list. |
