| I found it interesting that the low priced linux box was about 4 times faster than the highly configured production server. I'll rerun my tests without journaling to see what happens. Here some food for thought... case 4 MSSQL 2000 test. Single Pentium III 850Mhz processor 1GB RAM Cache usage around 140Mb 10000 15 sec 1st attempt 10000 1 sec 2nd attempt 100000 41 sec 1st attempt 100000 4 sec 2nd attempt 1000000 204 sec 1st attempt 1000000 33 sec 2nd attempt Case 5 MSSQL 2000 really big production box 1000000 8 sec 1st attempt case 6 MSSQL 2000 Xeon 4 x 3.6Ghz Processors 3.5GB RAM Cache using over 2GB 1000000 10 sec 1st attempt 1000000 8 sec 2nd attempt It shouldnt be hard to top these numbers! |
