Coolest Linux Projects

This is a discussion on Coolest Linux Projects within the linux-misc forums in Operating Systems category; I'm in need of some creative ideas - what are some of the coolest uses for a Linux system you've seen? I'm particularly interested in anything Home Theater (I'm already thinking of building a MythTV box), Home Automation related, or creative uses for VMWare Linux virtual machines, but any ideas are greatly appreciated. My only real requirement is that it not require expensive hardware (buying a home tends to be a drain on the bank account ....

Default Coolest Linux Projects

I'm in need of some creative ideas - what are some of the coolest uses
for a Linux system you've seen? I'm particularly interested in
anything Home Theater (I'm already thinking of building a MythTV box),

There's LinuxMCE (http://linuxmce.com/) and Misterhouse
(http://www.misterhouse.com/) just to name two. Of course you could
