LEI jobs causing high utilization

This is a discussion on LEI jobs causing high utilization within the lotus-notes-misc forums in Other Technologies category; We are running Domino 6.0.2 cf1 on OS/400 v5r2. We have two domino servers, one for mail and applications and one running LEI. I've noticed that when the LEI jobs are running, CPU utilization of the as400 is 30% higher than when they are not running. Also, about 20% of the total machine utilization cannot be accounted for in the jobs, so it is probably extra operating system load. Has anyone else had similar experiences? Any solutions? Thanks, Jim...

Hello Jim,

As far as I know, the LEI creates a realy huge systemload. So it could be
"normal" that you have this utilization.

Are both Domino Servers on the same AS400 ??? Is it a dedicated system
only for the domino servers ???

We are using a AS400 820 2 Processors, with 1 installed domino server. The
LEI runs in the same Domino Server.
Beside Domino we use many other applications like a pps system, archiving,
financial software etc. on the same machine.
I have experienced, that it is not good to make large replication / data
transfer activities during the day, so I scheduled this tasks to the
evening.
When this large activities are started, then the system utilization goes
nearly up to the maximum, until the activity is finished.

Yes, this AS/400 just has two Domino servers on it. I'm getting CPU
utilization of just over 50%

Have you tried tuning the system for your workload?
