Default pencil in?

When I create a new calendar entry, I have the option "pencil in" or
in german "vormerken".
I read the help but I have no idea how that works. The helps says
something like "keep free for the free time schedule".
So when should I use "pencil in" and what does it do then?

Martin

It just doesn't block your time so anybody is able to plan you there.

If you mark something in your calendar with "pencil in" that means
if another user is looking at your free time schedule you will not
show up as busy at that time.

This is good to use for appointments, meetings, all day events which
are more of reminders or not as important that you can attend
something else during that time..

So it means something like "ONLY pencil it in", only write it at the
edge?
