| To Whomever Can Help - My company has several Lotus Notes developers and I want to ask a question that I am SURE we aren't the first ones to ask. We have several databases that we would like numerous external (outside the company) personnel to use and I am looking for the following advice: How is the best way to authenticate those people? Currently, for each of the external people, we are adding a person document to our corporate address book. I would think that there is a better way to do this. Can we create an 'external use only' second address book? Do we need to authenticate the users another way? What options are available to us? If anyone has any suggestions or needs more detail than this, either post a follow-up to this message or e-mail me at cbuege-at-NOSPAMmoreycorp.com removing the 'NOSPAM' for the proper e-mail address. Thank you, Charles Buege cbuege-at-NOSPAMmoreycorp.com ---------------------------------------------- Posted with NewsLeecher v3.0 Beta 2 * Binary Usenet Leeching Made Easy * http://www.newsleecher.com/?usenet ---------------------------------------------- |

| There are several ways to do this. I know that some of the redbooks do mention this too. You might look at the R6 redbook. There is a way to do the authentication with a subset of the Addressbook. This would be a separate Notes domain, so you can control the replication via connection documents. I would only pull document information. You can actually change the form to reflect only the important fields if you are concerned about some one reading the outside address book. There is a secure method of authentication as well. You might check out the Admin help database on your server under the Help folder. Hope this helps.
