Time manipulation with oracle 8

This is a discussion on Time manipulation with oracle 8 within the Oracle forums in Oracle Database category; Hi, I use oracle 8i. There is a table with start and end time in GMT format. Oracle database is in a different timezone. i.e, sysdate returns date in different format. I cannot change the database timezone. It is crucial for other appplications. Now, How do i get records whose start time greater than current time and end time lesser than current time from this table ? With oracle 9 there are functions to convert time between timezones. How can i get a generic solution for this in Oracle 8i ? Any help, much appreciated Happy Bee...
