I need a small wireless scanner (or software) that will create a list of items when scanned, or just import them, then have them checked off scanned again. We will use this in a shop that will require many different pieces to a cabinet, for example, to all be checked off as they are packed in the truck, so no pieces are left behind. I would also like to know if a PDA barcode scanner combo comes with such a program. This isn't a large scale company.

From your description no one can tell which DBMS you're working with - or if this relates to "comp.databases.pick" at all. My advice would be to find any scanner in your price range that can send data to any Windows or *nix system (whatever you have). Google for this text: "wireless handheld scanner api" (without quotes). These usually come with some kind of software or a developer API for using the data after it's been scanned. When you have some idea of what you want to buy, before you buy it, ask here if you want some info about how to interface it to your business software. If we have something to look at we might be able to provide guidance for using it. As the saying goes though - you can get it fast, cheap, or good, pick two - and you've already stated 'simple' - that means the answer probably won't come fast or cheap. Let us know what you want to do about that too. If this isn't related to MV software then you might want to find another forum that specializes in scanners. All you need is an RF gun and a wireless router. You can get a gun for about $1000. With Wavelink(softwae) already loaded on it. Set your emulation and it will talk directly to your system.

As a note, JMO Business Systems in Canada owns the WaveLink connector for Pick. We've been using WaveLink for D3/Linux for a long time with Symbol PDT68XX series terminals. You can use the Avalanche manager with the Pick data service since the WaveLink client is compatible with the telnet-based data connectivity. My toughest problem has been finding repair shops that won't swap-out our custom terminals with newer, and incompatible, 11MB models. We still run on direct sequence 2MB for security and range. We just using a browser and mobile page we wrote that interfaces with an existing web service we have to connect to d3. Seems to do the trick pretty good and the mobile .net stuff is pretty simple (except for some limitations on the XML stuff)
