Does PP actually take care of our ETL process? I always thought I would
have to populate the DW then PP would take it from there. The training
videos are sort of suggesting something else.

about PPS Monitoring...

populating a DW is not related to PPS.
this is 2 different steps, processes and usage.

a DW is required if you want to merge multiple data sources, clean them and
provides an easier access to the data.

PPS can use a cube, an RDMS database or excel file has a data source, so you
can use a DW (then populate a cube from here), but it's not a must have.
so the ETL process is not related to PPS.

I don't play with the planning part of PPS, so I'm not sure how this part of
the tool works.

Default RE: Performance Point

There is an ETL tool called Profitbase that will take care of the function.
