Network Load Balancing in SQL 2005 Cluster

This is a discussion on Network Load Balancing in SQL 2005 Cluster within the sqlserver-server forums in Microsoft SQL Server category; Hi, A server which is configured as SQL 2005 Cluster as an Active/Passive node. I have a query, if I can configure SQL 2005 Cluster as an Active/Active node with Network load balance and can use same SQL virtual IP address. Default Network Load Balancing in SQL 2005 Cluster

Hi,

A server which is configured as SQL 2005 Cluster as an Active/Passive
node.
I have a query, if I can configure SQL 2005 Cluster as an Active/Active node
with Network load balance and can use same SQL virtual IP address.

I have 27 applications which connects a single Database, which is working in my
Active/Passive configuration.

Pls. help me if there is possibility in my scenario.

It doesn't work that way.

Active/Active is two separate instances with completely different IP
addresses and database sets.

Cluster is not designed for load balancing.
Cluster is only designed for hight availibility.

And direct network load balancing between SQL Server is not a recommended
....

It's not that it's not recommended, it simply does not.
