You think it would be good to let the second poster decide on the format? I don't think so. Anyway, I have no heart for this battle. I just wanted to point out that it's not just a matter of style. |

Fair enough - to each his or her preference. >>> But to break into a conversation and change the protocol is rude. >> >> So if the very first answer to a question is a top-post, so >> should any subsequent answers? > > You think it would be good to let the second poster decide on the > format? I don't think so. That's what you seemed to imply. Are you perhaps objecting to top- posting, period? > Anyway, I have no heart for this battle. No. The best answer is to correct the post. This is Usenet, and the various governing RFCs specify bottom (or interspersed) posting with snipping. You are always right when you avoid top-posting, although the occasional newsgroup (such as Microsoft) allow top-posting. I avoid those. -- cbfalconer at maineline dot net -- Posted via a free Usenet account from http://www.teranews.com |

How can you continuously correct other's posting etiquette, whilst blatantly ignoring the accepted standards for a signature block? Why would anyone take you seriously, based on the above? -- "Ubuntu" -- an African word, meaning "Slackware is too hard for me". |

You know, what I find it interesting is that the person who caused this whole thing to start, because of his top-posting, did provide useful information on the original subject, whereas the self-appointed net law enforcers have provided none whatsoever. |
