About a year ago, I wrote about some search terms that were used to find content on my blog. Many of the terms from a year ago are still there - "areas of improvement" being a huge one (hmmm, now I know what people use google for - self improvement). I revisited the search logs to see what sort of google/yahoo searches (ok, google searches, 97+ % come from there, the rest come from yahoo) were happening a year later. Some are amusing: - playmobil airport terminal 3353 : I did write about this particular playmobil toy once - now I want to see if the amazon effect happens again :)
- most used urinal statistics -infection -arthritis -bladder -cancer -allergy : Well, I did write about a urinal etiquette test once - I wonder if the person doing the search was satisfied with the answer...
- incorrect use of ambivalence : I remember writing about that in February of this year. That search and the result hit was a "good one" I think.
- wish book sears : I remember finding the sears wish book online - scans of a copy I likely read myself as a kid (and circled the toys I really wanted for Christmas....)
- Linksys BEFW11S4 VPN Cisco : proof that I'm a source of some information other than Oracle from time to time :)
- how to make a simple crystal ball not made out of glass : Hmm, somehow I think maybe they didn't get an answer from me, but maybe they got a laugh or two.
- double cheeseburger char broiled long time : Hah, take that Iron Chef. I am the #1 hit (as of right now anyway, in the US, on the east coast, using my search preferences....) for that.
- things that interfere WiFi : not bad, #2...
- www.porn.com : hmmmmm, well - it was an interesting data set after all...
- how many calories are in a vanilla latte? : last year, it was plain old black coffee. Apparently I'm drawing a more sophisticate crowd these days...
- how to pronounce grande : last year they were curious about how to say venti!
- old woman pictures : ok, that one surprised me, but makes sense when you see what it linked to.
- kiddy porn found on computer : Oh Canada...
- can spells work for you : I doubt they were impressed with the page they found of mine...
Anyway, it is really sort of fascinating to see what people search for - and what it finds - and how far up the page rank your own material might be. Some are surprising (1st page for porn.com), others are not. But the terms are always interesting. Read More.. |
